French as a Foreign Language
Since 2016, the Béguinage Social Centre has been accredited to organise French as a Foreign Language (FLE) modules at levels A1 and A2 of the CEFR within the FLE programme of the reception route for newcomers.
- The FLE A stream is reserved for people who have not obtained thesecond-level secondary education certificate(CESDD) or those without equivalent skills.
- The FLE B track, on the other hand, is reserved for participants who have obtained thesecond-level secondary education certificate(CESDD) or having equivalent skills.
Who is it for ?
These courses are accessible to newly arrived people registered with a reception office in the Brussels-Capital Region.
Levels
We have 5 programs (levels)A1 Then A2) :
- two sectorsFLE A(16 hours per week, mornings and afternoons)
- a sectorFLE B(8pm, in the morning)
- two sectorsFLE B(7pm) in the evening.
Objectives
To acquire the necessary skills to reach an A2 level and thus be able to manage in their daily lives and for their own needs and those of their loved ones.

When do classes start?
Our classes generally begin around September 15th.
Courses for newcomers begin throughout the year, depending on the modules and levels.
Who can take courses at CSB?
Anyone 18 years of age or older can register for our courses, regardless of their immigration status.
For courses for newcomers, participants must first register at the Newcomer Reception Offices (BAPA).
Do I need to take a placement test?
Yes, you will need to take a short placement test to determine your level and be placed in the correct group.
How much does it cost to register for a course?
The full year costs €65.
For the BAPA course, the training is free.
What administrative documents do I need to bring when registering?
No administrative documents are required. However, you can present your identity document (foreign or Belgian).
